The manuals are revised every three years and often pieces are deleted and new pieces are added. The student's real level of ability should determine which piece (or level) is selected, not the level passed the prior year. Students will perform this before an official NYSSMA adjudicator. Last spring, as a West School fifth-grader, Jesse achieved a perfect score of 100 on his NYSSMA Festival solo evaluation at level 6 – the highest and most advanced division.
